CT NAACP’s One Million Jobs Campaign

Life after incarceration can be challenging. Many workforce training programs for the formerly incarcerated lack a viable pathway to job opportunities, while many employers lack the resources to recruit, train and retain those who are impacted by incarceration.

CT NAACP's One Million Jobs Campaign (OMJC)'s is dedicated to strengthening equity and the economic status of formerly incarcerated community members.

The OMJC, CT NAACP, works with employers who are committed to offering job placement opportunities that are aligned with support systems to assist with workforce training and long-term employee retention for our returning citizens. OMJC is currently partnered with the healthcare, advanced manufacturers, retail industries to set aside 10,000 jobs for formerly incarcerated individuals across the state of Connecticut over the next 3-5 years.

The One Million Jobs Campaign in New Haven:

CT NAACP's OMJC’s partnership with Yale-New Haven Health is ready to employ formerly incarcerated individuals in entry-level positions with pathways to training and upward mobility. We are also working with community organizations and the Department of Corrections to provide expert training and support services for OMJC clients.

Prior to employment, OMJC will assess individual needs, and determine the training and skills required to align our clients with job eligibility requirements. Community-based partners and Human Resources at Yale-New Haven Health are also training job applicants in how to prepare for the interviews.

Upon employment, OMJC clients will be supported with wrap-around services by community agencies to assist with any systemic barriers that they may face. Support is available in the areas of workforce training, adult education, higher education, and adult literacy.
